Magnesium sulfate production
Magnesium sulfate production is a chemical compound with the formula MgSO4 and containing the elements magnesium, sulfur and oxygen. This compound tends to attract water from the atmosphere and is therefore usually found in hydrated form. This form is found as MgSO4·7H2O. Magnesium heptahydrate, also known as Epsom salt, is the most common form of magnesium sulfate. It is used as a very important raw material in the pharmaceutical industry.
Magnesium sulfate (MgSO4 .7H2O) fertilizer is a substance in high purity and crystal form, developed to eliminate magnesium deficiencies in your plants. Its content is 15% MgO and 28% SO3, and since these substances are soluble, they can be easily dissolved in water and applied by sprinkling or directly onto the leaves. Below, detailed information about the chemical and physical properties of magnesium sulfate is presented.

Magnesium sulfate production market potential
Magnesium sulfate is used in many areas, both in anhydrous (powder/flake) and hydrated form. This product, which is widely preferred as a laxative especially in the pharmaceutical sector, has a large market share in the pharmaceutical industry in various regions of the country. Some of the main medical benefits of magnesium sulfate, or Epsom salt as it is known, are as follows.
- It has a laxative effect when consumed orally and relieves constipation by encouraging the elimination of undigested food in the large intestine. This works by stimulating bowel movements.
When administered intravenously or intramuscularly to pregnant women, Magnesium Sulfate can help delay and thus prevent premature birth. - Magnesium Sulfate is also used in the treatment of severe asthma attacks. Epsom salts, dissolved in water and applied to joints, can relieve joint pain in arthritis patients.
This substance, which is also effective in the field of cosmetics, is easily absorbed by the skin. Thus, it cleanses the skin, helps eliminate inflammations, such as boils, and prevents wrinkles. - Epsom salt also offers a solution to hair problems. When used with shampoo, it absorbs excess oil from oily hair while adding shine and vitality to the hair. A warm mixture of conditioner and Epsom salt can make hair shinier.
- This compound, used in agriculture and gardening to compensate for magnesium deficiency, is also found in bath salts. It is used in body flotation therapies, especially in high concentrations, by increasing the specific gravity of bath water.
- Anhydrous Magnesium Sulfate is widely used as a desiccant in organic syntheses due to its great affinity for water. It can also act as a coagulant in tofu production.

Magnesium sulfate production method
For the production of magnesium sulfate, calcined magnesite powder is first passed through a magnetic separator to remove iron-containing foreign substances. The cleaned magnesite powder is then subjected to a chemical reaction with dilute sulfuric acid solution. After the reaction is complete, the resulting solution is transferred to the evaporator unit and concentrated there. The heated concentrated solution is directed to the crystallizer device for the crystallization process. The formed crystals are then centrifuged, dried and finally packaged.
