Gas scrubber tower manufacturing
Gas washing tower manufacturing is also known as spray towers and consists of a tower body, tray, reboiler and condenser. Such towers are generally among the equipment used in coarse separation processes and for this reason the number of trays is usually not more than 10. Washers in gas washing tower manufacturing are suitable for separating mixed gases containing small amounts of dust. In this process, the components do not undergo chemical reactions and the products are easy to liquefy; on the other hand, it is difficult to liquefy or solidify impurities, especially dust.
When the mixed gas enters the system from the middle section of the washing tower, the liquid product component between the trays and the vaporized part of the product component gas simultaneously liquefies. However, impurities do not become liquid or solidify. While the gas passes through the liquid component trays, the liquid product component is fixed and thus an effective washing effect occurs. The design and production of the washing tower is based on this principle.
The scrubber tower is usually made of steel or fiberglass materials and must have features such as high strength, chemical resistance and long life. In the manufacturing process, material selection, tower sizing and detailed manufacturing planning should be done after the design and engineering stages. The materials used in the manufacturing of the scrubber tower must have the ability to withstand aggressive chemicals and high temperatures in the scrubber processes. Therefore, materials such as stainless steel, carbon steel or fiberglass are generally preferred.
Other features to be considered in material selection are corrosion resistance, mechanical strength, surface roughness and fire resistance. The manufacturing of the scrubber tower usually consists of steps such as cutting, bending, welding, assembly and surface coating. While laser or plasma cutting machines are used in material cutting, hydraulic presses and bending machines are used for shaping large parts. Welding operations are usually carried out with TIG or MIG methods. Finally, the tower parts are assembled and surface coated.
Working Principle of Waste Gas Washing Tower
The operating principle of the gas scrubber manufacturing is to use strong acids (sulfuric acid), strong alkalis (sodium hydroxide) and strong oxidants (sodium hypochlorite) as a washing spray solution to neutralize gaseous odor molecules. In this process, the odor components in the gas phase are transferred to the liquid phase, where the odor substances are eliminated through neutralization and oxidation reactions with chemical substances.
The most commonly preferred gas scrubber manufacturing equipment is packed towers. In this system, the chemical absorption liquid is sprayed down from the top of the tower, while the exhaust gas moves upward. Thus, the odor and absorption liquid completely come into contact and react, and the odor is eliminated. The ratio between the absorber liquid and the waste gas flow (liquid/gas ratio) is generally between 1-3 L/m3. The height of the packing is usually between 2-5 meters, while the speed of the empty gas column is usually 0.5-1 meters/second. If the packed towers work successfully, the deodorization effect can reach over 90%.
Scrubbers
Scrubbers can successfully handle high temperature and very humid flows and take up less space. These systems can be retrofitted to existing equipment. They also have the ability to cool heated gases. Compared to other equipment, scrubbers have a higher sulfur removal capacity and have lower initial costs. They can cool heated gases and effectively neutralize very corrosive gases and dusts.
